Research into the corporate governance practice of pass-through voting, by LSE academics Professor Tom Gosling and Dr Suren Gomtsyan, was profiled in the Investor Forum’s 2025 Annual Review.
Pass-through voting provides the ability for investors in pooled investment funds to direct how their proportional share of assets in the fund is voted at shareholder meetings. The research explores the motivations of UK asset owners and asset managers for adopting (or not adopting) pass-through voting in the UK and considers the implications for investor stewardship.
The work was carried out under the auspices of the Financial Markets Group and was funded by the Brown-Gonzalez Charity and the Global School of Sustainability at LSE (GSoS)
