Restarting Ukraine’s agricultural exports

Russia has imposed a naval blockade on Ukraine, suffocating the country’s agricultural exports. The last time that Ukraine experienced an export crisis of similar proportions was during the collapse of the Soviet Union. This column estimates that losses of agricultural producers reached $200 million a day in March through May 2022, with the next harvest at even higher risk due to lack of storage facilities and trading routes.
