Rules and Procedures

FMG Library Catalogue

The FMG Library Catalogue can be accessed here.

Borrowing books

LSE staff and students affiliated to FMG can borrow most items from the collections. Whether an item is loanable or not will be indicated on the item record in the FMG Library Catalogue.

If you wish to borrow an item, click the “Contact FMG to request this item” button on the record of the item. An email will be sent to you when the item is ready for collection.

LSE staff and students can borrow items for 90 days.

Borrowed items can be recalled and loan periods shortened at any time. Please be prepared to return items at short notice.

A maximum of 15 items can be borrowed at a time.

Renewing books

We automatically renew loaned books for up to a year, unless another person has placed a request on them to be returned.

If we need you to return a book, we will email you with a revised due date.

Returning books

Items should be returned to the FMG office in MAR.8.03 by the due date. Please be sure that the item is handed to one of the administrative staff members.

Late or failure to return items

Late return of materials borrowed, or failure to comply with sanctions, may result in suspension of borrowing privileges and access. Where an item is lost or stolen, returned damaged, or not returned after a reasonable period of time, the borrower will be charged for the item at a level to be determined by the FMG Library's management. An item charged for in this way remains the property of the FMG Library.

Request items out on loan

To ensure the fair circulation of material, items out on loan can be requested. If you wish to request an item, click the “Contact FMG to request this item” button on the library record of the item. An email will be sent to you when the item is ready for collection.
