Charles Goodhart spoke to Yulia Kulmatitskaya, of the Russian language YouTube channel Private Talks, on the future of the global economy. They discussed Professor Goodhart's view of current interest rates and inflation, what choices central banks might have under the circumstances, his opinion on Russian monetary policy and real problems of the global economy. The interview also touches on which countries will be leaders and outsiders in the next five years, why the era of low key interest rates has come to an end, and who will benefit or who will lose from the increase. Not lastly, Professor Goodhart shares some thoughts on what will happen to the dollar, whether BRICS will be able to create a single currency and whether we should expect a large-scale global recession.
